PAGASA Says Easterlies and Amihan to Bring Isolated Rains Over Parts of PH

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that northeast monsoon and easterlies will bring isolated rains over parts of the country.

On Saturday (February 17, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The amihan and easterlies will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Daniel James E. Villamil reported that the northeast monsoon will be affecting extreme Northern Luzon while the easterlies will affect the eastern section of the country. No low-pressure area is being monitored within the country’s vicinity.

“Wala pa rin tayong binabantayang low-pressure area o sama ng panahon sa loob at labas ng Philippine Area of Responsibility na maaring makaapekto sa ating bansa sa mga susunod na araw,” Villamil said.

The northeast monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands.

The easterlies and localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

“Patuloy pa rin nating mararanasan ang epekto ng easterlies dito sa Eastern Section ng ating bansa, samantala ito namang northeast monsoon ay itong extreme northern Luzon na lamang ang apektado,” he explained.

Villamil said that other parts of the country will have generally fair weather conditions with chances of light rains and thunderstorms.

The weather agency advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains or severe thunderstorms.

The coastal water condition over the eastern section of the country will be moderate to rough. The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.
