PAGASA Says Easterlies and Amihan to Bring Scattered Rains Over Parts of PH
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that easterlies will bring scattered rains over parts of the country.
On Friday (February 16, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The easterlies and amihan will affect the country’s weather conditions.
PAGASA expert Benison Estareja reported that the northeast monsoon will be affecting extreme Northern Luzon while the easterlies will affect the eastern section of the country.
“Umiiral pa din po ang dalawang dalawang weather system sa ating bansa: una na diyan ang mahinang northeast monsoon or amihan na nakakaapekto lamang po sa extreme northern Luzon,” Estareja said.
The easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas and Caraga.
The northeast monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Batanes and Babuyan Islands.
The easterlies and localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
Overall, warm weather will prevail in most of the country as the weakened northeast monsoon affects only the extreme northern Luzon.
“While the rest of the country, mainit na panahon na sinasamahan ng pag-ulan dulot naman yan ng easterlies o ‘yung hanging galing Pacific Ocean,” he added.
The weather agency has warned the public of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the eastern section of the country will be moderate to rough. The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions.
PAGASA did not raise any gale warning over the country’s seaboard. No tropical cyclones or low-pressure areas are being monitored within and around the Philippine area of responsibility.
