Mother Seeks Help After Baby is Allegedly Kidnapped in Ermita, Manila
Alpha Mercado, a desperate mother sought help after a woman allegedly kidnapped her 7-month-old baby in Ermita, Manila.
CCTV footage shared by the Ermita Police Station captured the woman passing through M.H. Del Pilar Street with the baby. Mercado confirmed screenshots from another CCTV showing her child with the woman who even entered a convenience store to buy biscuits for the baby.
She left her baby with her father as she needed to work. Around 2:30 p.m., her child went missing, confirmed when she returned home. Although she hadn’t spoken to her husband yet, witnesses saw him at a park in Ermita with the baby.
He talked to the woman, possibly gaining her trust. He handed the baby to her and went to the restroom. Upon his return, the woman and baby were gone. The family panicked and sought help that evening on social media to find the baby.
Using a dummy account, the woman chatted with Mercado’s relative and sent photos of the baby to prove she had him. She claimed she wanted to adopt the baby, but Mercado insisted she never agreed to it.
The woman, fearing consequences, reportedly escaped to a province near Metro Manila. The Ermita Police Station assured Mercado they would prioritize the case to recover the baby.
