Props from Tribe’s Sakara Festival Ransacked by Unknown Individuals
Several unknown individuals reportedly ransacked the props of a tribe participating in the Sakara Festival in Brgy. Gil Montilla, Sipalay City.
Several props owned by one of the tribes joining the Sakara Festival were vandalized and stolen. The group members were disheartened when they intended to retrieve their props to bring them back to their place, only to discover that some were destroyed and others were missing.
The tribe expressed their disappointment and advised against repeating such acts, emphasizing that it sets a poor example for the people of Sipalay.

“Gin set up namun tanan Kagapon ang mga props Para hakoton subong. Ang natabo, gin pang Ukay gd tudo kag gn pang was.ag kag ang mga Design sang mga Basket nga nabutang gn pang kakas kag gin Dala ang Basket. 18 kabilog kag 8 ka Nigo” a tribe’s representative lamented.
(We set up all the props yesterday to bring them back today. What happened was, everything was ransacked and some designs on the baskets were destroyed, and the baskets themselves were taken. In total, 18 were taken, and 8 were damaged)
The Sakara Festival is an important cultural festival in the city that honors the rich heritage and customs of the local population. It includes a variety of activities, performances, and displays that promote Sipalay City’s unique culture and personality.

Such acts of vandalism and theft not only remove from the atmosphere of the festival but also diminish the efforts and creativity of the participants who work tirelessly to prepare for it.
Authorities have been urged to investigate the incident and take appropriate action to prevent such events from happening in the future.
To maintain the festival’s safety and integrity, community members are requested to remain attentive and report any suspicious actions.
