Employer Earns Criticism for Lambasting Job Applicant Asking About Salary Rate

An employer faces backlash and criticism for her response to a job applicant who inquired about the salary for a position she had posted.

In job hunting, job applicants often find themselves faced with the difficult task of asking about the salary for a position they are interested in. While some may feel hesitant to raise the question, understanding and discussing the salary rate is an important aspect of the job application process.

Asking about the salary is a legitimate concern for job seekers. It’s a practical and essential question that allows applicants to make informed decisions about their career choices.

Recently, Daisy Borja, a Facebook user, posted a private conversation with the applicant asking about the salary instead of submitting the required documents. The post quickly circulated online and garnered various reactions from the netizens.

Borja gets irritated and questioned the applicant’s mindset, reiterating, “Wala pang isenesend na Documents at requirement sahod na agad tinatanong mo? Kapag ganyan systema ng utak mo sigurado d ka magtatagal sa lahat ng inaaplayan mo.”

The businesswoman went on to explain that she didn’t want to waste time dealing with applicants who seemed undeserving. The latter sees applicants who inquire about the application process, requirements, and salary as red flags.

The issue has become one of the most controversial topics on social media and sparked conversation on how employers should balance assertiveness with transparency when communicating with job applicants, emphasizing the need for mutual respect in the hiring process.

“Sa mga nagaapply po wag mokong tanungin how to apply? Ano requirements? at magkano sahod. Redflag na agad sakin yan,” she added.

In 2020, Borja was involved in a controversy when in one of her customers accused her of estafa.
