PAGASA: Amihan and Easterlies to Bring Rains Over Most Parts of the Country

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the northeast monsoon and easterlies will bring rain in most parts of the country.

On Thursday (December 28, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The easterlies and amihan will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina reported that the northeast monsoon will be affecting Northern and Central Luzon while the Easterlies will affect the rest of the country.

“Sa pag-iral pa rin ng northeast monsoon, o hanging amihan, inaasahan pa rin natin na malaki [ang] tyansa ng mga pag-ulan lalung-lalo na po sa may silangang bahagi ng northern and central Luzon,” Badrina said.

Amihan will bring cloudy skies with rains over Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon

The Easterlies / Localized Thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Visayas, Mindanao, MIMAROPA, and the Bicol Region. Similar weather conditions are expected over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

“Samantala sa nalalabing bahagi ng norther and central Luzon ay inaasahan pa rin natin ang posibilidad ng mga mahihinang pag-ulan. Habang sa nalalabing bahagi ng southern Luzon, Bicol region at MIMAROPA ay possible naman yung mga thunderstorms,” he added.

The weather agency advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over Luzon and the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao will be moderate to rough. The rest of the archipelago will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.

No gale warning was raised in any part of the country.
