PAGASA Says Easterlies to Prevail Over Parts of PH

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that easterlies will rain over some parts of the country.

On Tuesday (December 5, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon and easterlies will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja reported that easterlies will be affecting the country. The easterlies refer to winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean, which bring warm and humid weather.

The easterlies are expected to bring overcast skies with chances of rainfall over most parts of Luzon. Cloudy skies with rain showers are expected over Bicol Region.

Estareja said that isolated rain showers are expected over Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan.

Warm weather is expected over western Luzon, including Metro Manila. Visayas may experience similar weather conditions with cloudy skies and isolated rain showers.

“To our fellow citizens in Visayas, partly cloudy to cloudy skies will prevail, accompanied by isolated showers, especially in the eastern portion by the afternoon due to easterlies,” Estareja said.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are expected over the Bicol region, Northern Samar, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon.

“Meanwhile, in Mindanao, generally partly cloudy skies will also prevail, accompanied by brief periods of rain or thunderstorms, particularly in the Caraga and Davao regions also caused by easterlies,” he added.

Estareja reported that no weather disturbance is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility within the next few days.

The weather agency has warned the residents in the affected areas for possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

The coastal water condition over the Bicol region and Northern Samar will be moderate to rough. The rest of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.
