PAGASA Says Northeast Monsoon & Easterlies to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that northeast monsoon and easterlies will bring rains in quake-affected areas.

On Monday (December 4, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon and easterlies will be affecting the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA specialist Benison Estareja reported that the northeast monsoon will be affecting Northern Luzon.

The easterlies will bring cloudy weather conditions with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Aurora and Quezon. Amigan will bring similar weather conditions over Batanes and Cagayan.

“Sa ating mga kababayan sa Mindanao, pinaka-uulanin ang Dinagat Islands and Surigao provinces dahil sa easterlies. May mga kalat-kalat na thunderstorms sa umaga pero mababawasan ito pagsapit ng hapon hanggang sa gabi,” Estareja said.

Amihan will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the Bicol region, Northern Samar, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon.

“We are reminding our fellow countrymen here in the Caraga region, who experienced yesterday’s earthquake, that the shaking that occurred could possibly trigger landslides,” he said.

The Easterlies / Localized Thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over the whole Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro as well as Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

Here in the western and central portions of Visayas, expect partly cloudy to occasionally sunny skies, accompanied by brief showers, especially in Aklan, Capiz, northern Iloilo, and northern Cebu. There is also a high chance of rain in the afternoon and evening,” he added.

The weather agency advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods and landslides.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Northern Luzon will be moderate to rough. The remaining parts of the country will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA.
