EARTHQUAKE: 6.8 Magnitude Quake Hit Davao Occidental

Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Davao Occidental, November 17, 2023

EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 6.8 magnitude quake in Davao Occidental today, Friday, November 17, 2023.

Following the 4.7 magnitude earthquake that hit Sarangani yesterday, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake hit Davao Occidental today. It had a magnitude of 6.8.

The earthquake today that struck Davao Occidental, Friday, November 17, 2023, at 04:14 p.m., was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Sarangani Island.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Occidental was located at 05.38°North, 125.24°East – 028 km South 68° West of Sarangani Island. It had a depth of focus of 063 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, the following intensities were felt in these areas:
