Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Davao Occidental, October 24, 2023

EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.1 magnitude quake in Davao Occidental today, Tuesday, October 24, 2023.

Following the 4.6 magnitude earthquake in Davao Occidental a few days ago, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake hit Davao Occidental today. It had a magnitude of 4.1.

The earthquake today that struck Davao Occidental, Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at 01:12 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Balut Island in the municipality of Sarangani.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Eastern Samar was located at 02.58°North, 123.44°East – 383 km South 35° West of Balut Island. It had a depth of focus of 418 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was recorded at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas. No instrumental intensity was recorded as well.
