Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Davao Occidental, October 11, 2023

EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.6 magnitude quake in Davao Occidental today, Wednesday, October 11, 2023.

Following the 4.8 magnitude earthquake in Davao Occidental yesterday, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in the same province. According to the agency, the quake that hit Davao Occidental has a magnitude of 4.6.

The earthquake today that struck Davao Occidental, Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at 08:04 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Balut Island in the municipality of Sarangani.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Occidental was located at 03.43°North, 125.75°East – 223 km South 09° East of Balut Island. It had a depth of focus of 172 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was recorded at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas. No instrumental intensity was recorded as well.
