PAGASA Says Northeasterly Windflow Will Bring Rains Over Parts of the Country

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that northeasterly windflow will bring isolated rains over parts of the country.

On Wednesday (October 18, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeasterly wind flow will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that northeasterly windflow will bring cloudy skies with rains over Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, and Aurora. Possible flash floods or landslides are expected due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

State weather specialist Obet Badrina said that the chances of a typhoon developing in and outside of the Philippine area of responsibility until the weekend are low.

Base sa mga pinaka-huling datos maliit pa ‘ung tiyansa magkaroon tayo ng bagyo sa mga susunod na araw hanggang weekend,” Bardrina said.

The Northeasterly Windflow / Localized Thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms over the Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience similar weather conditions due to the weather disturbance. Flash floods or landslides are possible during severe thunderstorms.

Within the next few days, PAGASA may declare the start of amihan or northeast monsoon season.

“Kung matatandaan po ninyo last year, taong 2022, nagsimula po ‘yung amihan season bandang October 20, so posible po sa mga susunod na araw o linggo ay ide-deklara na natin dito sa Pagasa ‘yung pagsisimula ng amihan,” Badrina added.
