Netizens Slam Tricycle Driver After Asking Foreign Tourist to Pay P550 for Ride
A tricycle driver faces criticism from the online community after charging a foreign tourist to pay P550 for a ride.
Chris Lewis, a Facebook user, shared a video footage of a tricycle driver in Manila who allegedly overcharged him. The post garnered various reactions from the online community.
The tourist vlogger Chris Lewis was documenting his Manila experience through vlogging when he was approached by a tricycle driver offering to transport him to his nearby hotel. Despite the hotel being within walking distance, the tourist accepted the ride, agreeing to pay the driver an initially quoted fare of P50.
During the trip, Lewis engaged in a conversation with the driver. Upon arriving at the hotel, the trike driver demanded a staggering P550 from the tourist. The sudden increase in the fare caught the tourist off guard, and he was understandably shocked.
In an attempt to justify the increased fare, the tricycle driver defended the expensive fare by referring to the high cost of gasoline. He even went so far as to claim a connection with a company, claiming that his price was different from that of other independent drivers.
Lewis attempted to negotiate with the driver, offering a more reasonable fare of P100 for the short ride to resolve the situation. The tricycle driver, on the other hand, stands firm in his demand for P550.
The foreigner reluctantly paid the requested P550 to the trike driver. He expressed his frustration and documented the encounter as part of his vlog.

The tricycle driver must be arrested because he put our country in to a bad image, it’s really shameful.
