Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Ilocos Norte, September 27, 2023
EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 3.9 magnitude quake in Ilocos Norte today, Wednesday, September 27, 2023.
Following the 4.9 magnitude earthquake in Occidental Mindoro a few days ago, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake that hit Ilocos Norte has a magnitude of 3.9.
The earthquake today that struck Ilocos Norte, Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at 05:55 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Burgos.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Ilocos Norte was located at 18.59°North, 120.22°East – 045 km North 79° West of Burgos. It had a depth of focus of 013 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake but there might be aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, the following intensities and instrumental intensities were recorded in these areas:
- Intensity II
- Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte
Instrumental Intensities:
- Intensity I
- Laoag, Ilocos Norte
- Intensity III
- Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte
