Malacañang Palace Declares Suspension of Afternoon Works in Government Offices

WALANG PASOK – Malacañang Palace declared the suspension of government works in the Executive branch on September 25, 2023 (Monday).

On Friday (September 22, 2023), Palace issued a Memorandum Circular 32 declaring the suspension of work from 3 p.m. onwards on Monday, September 25, 2023, in observance of Family Week.

This initiative aims to give government employees and their families an opportunity to commemorate “Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day,” as outlined in Proclamation No. 326 (s. 2012). The circular declares the last week of September of every year as Family Week.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin signed the proclamation.

“The suspension of work in all branches of government, in independent commissions or bodies, and in the private sector is encouraged, so as to afford all Filipino families the full opportunity to celebrate the 31st National Family Week,” Bersamin said.

The suspension of work extends to all branches of government, independent commissions or bodies, and even the private sector is encouraged to participate.

This Office also encourages all government workers in the Executive branch to fully support the programs and activities relative to the observance of Family Week, as organized by the National Committee on the Filipino Family,” it added.

However, government agencies with functions involving the delivery of basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and the provision of vital services will continue their operations as usual.

The measure encourages employees and employers alike to prioritize spending quality time with their loved ones, strengthening the idea that family remains at the core of Filipino values and traditions.
