PAGASA Says Habagat to Bring Rains Over PH, LPA to Dissipate Within 24-48 Hours

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that southwest monsoon is expected to bring rains over parts of the country.

On Thursday (September 14, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. A low-pressure area and habagat will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that a low-pressure area was located 395 kilometers east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes. The southwest monsoon or habagat will continue to bring cloudy skies and rain showers over the country.

Weather specialist Patrick Del Mundo said that the LPA will not directly affect the country’s weather and it is expected to dissolve within the next 24 to 48 hours.

“Wala itong [LPA] direktang epekto sa ano mang bahagi ng ating bansa at inaasahan po natin na possible itong mag dissipate o malusaw within the next 24 to 48 hours,” Del Mundo said.

Habagat will bring cloudy weather conditions with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, SOCCSKSARGEN and BARMM.

The southwest monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy weather conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the remaining parts of the country.

Del Mundo reported that no low-pressure systems were spotted inside or outside of the Philippine area of responsibility.

“So far, wala pa rin tayong namamataan na low pressure system sa loob at labas ng ating Philippine area of responsibility na maaaring maka-apekto sa ating bansa sa mga susunod na araw, bagamat inaasahan po natin na maaaring magpatuloy ‘yung epekto ng hanging habagat hanggang bukas,” he added.
