In a recent episode, Vice Ganda found Ogie Alcasid crying and this was the reason why.
VICE GANDA – During “Tawag Ng Tanghalan”, judge Ogie Alcasid cried because of a contestant’s performance and this is the reason behind it.
Herminio Alcasid Sr. is the name of the father of OPM icon and singer-songwriter, Ogie Alcasid. And recently, in the new episode of It’s Showtime, he became emotional during the Tawag Ng Tanghalan.
Mainstay host Vice Ganda noticed it and asked him why.
While wiping his tears, the OPM icon shared that his emotions got him crying because it felt like the song the contestant was singing seemed to be about his father.
He said, “Eh kasi parang tungkol sa tatay ko yung kinakanta niya eh.”
To make the energy lighter and the singer feel better, the hosts clutched the lonely vibe with their funny banters and jokes as per the video.
To recall, Alcasid’s father Herminio Sr. died last September 2020. His father was a lawyer and was appointed to the board of directors of the Philippine National Oil Co. Development and Management Corporation (PNOC) in 2010. He was appointed by then-president Benigno Aquino III and was later appointed as PNOC’s president and CEO.
Alcasid famed the songs Ikaw Sana, Kung Mawawala Ka, Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala, Sa Kanya, Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang, Nandito Ako, Mahal Kita Walang Iba, Sana, Dito Sa Puso Ko, Hanggang Ngayon, and many more.
Meanwhile, the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) released a statement for It’s Showtime’s suspension because of a violation. The decision was a unanimous vote among the board members while Chairperson Lala Sotto inhibited herself from voting.
Despite the suspension for 12 airing days, the show still went on as the decision remains unofficial. ABS-CBN filed for a motion for reconsideration as they humbly believed no pertinent law had been violated.
