Jose Manalo talked about political offers he received

Comedian-host Jose Manalo revealed the reason why he turned the offer to him to run for councilor and vice mayor.

Jose has come a long way since he was one of the behind-the-scenes staff members in TV shows. Eventually, he had the chance to work in front of the camera as part of the supporting cast. Later on, he was given a chance to be the “bida”.

Currently, he is one of the hosts of E.A.T, the noontime show of Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon on TV5 which came from the longest-running noontime show Eat Bulaga. Previously, Jose, as well as his co-host Wally Bayola, revealed that they were offered P2 million by TAPE Inc. just to stay in the Kapuso show.

In a recent interview, based on the article in Inquirer, Jose Manalo was asked if he is planning to enter politics as he plays the role of Mayor Jose on E.A.T. for the Sugod Bahay Kapatid segment.

The comedian-host there had been offer for him to enter politics. It is quite a common scenario that showbiz personalities cross into the world of public service. However, Jose admitted that he can’t see himself being a politician.

He shared that he was offered to run for councilor and vice mayor but he opted to turn the offer down. “Hindi po mangyayari. I have had offers to run for councilor, vice mayor … but no, politics really is out of my lane,” he said.

Jose knows that this is not an easy job to do. He added that one should be well-educated before entering politics and have knowledge of what the job requires.

Artists like us make people happy, help others. In some ways, that’s how politicians are,” Jose Manalo stressed. He also said that he does not let his popularity consume him. The comedian-host shared that ever since he started showbiz, he is not thinking that he already leveled up.
