PAGASA Says LPA Intensifies Into Tropical Depression Goring

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that LPA developed into Tropical Depression Goring.

On Thursday (August 24, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Tropical Depression Goring will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that a low-pressure area being monitored east of Cagayan has intensified into a tropical depression. Goring was last spotted 405 kilometers east of Calayan, Cagayan. Goring packs maximum wind speeds of 55 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

Tropical Depression GORING is less likely to bring heavy rainfall over the country in the next three days. However, considering the proximity of the tropical cyclone to land, any westward shift in the track forecast may result in heavy rainfall over portions of Cagayan Valley in the next three days,” PAGASA said.

The weather disturbance may intensify and reach a tropical storm category tonight or by Friday morning (August 25) and may be upgraded into a typhoon category by Sunday (August 27).

Tropical Depression Goring will bring cloudy weather with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera Administrative Region.

The southwest monsoon or Habagat will affect Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

The southwest monsoon will bring similar weather conditions over Visayas, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and BARMM.

Habagat and the localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over northern and western sections of Luzon as well as the remaining parts of the country, according to the weather bureau PAGASA.
