PAGASA Says Low-Pressure Area’s Trough to Bring Rains Over Parts of the Country
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that a low-pressure area and habagat will bring rains over some parts of the country.
On Wednesday (August 23, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. A low-pressure area and habagat will affect the country’s weather condition.
PAGASA reported that an active tropical cyclone was spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). The Tropical Depression was located 3,170 kilometers east of Northern Luzon.

The weather disturbance packs maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness up to 55 kph.
“Base sa pinakahuling datos natin, hindi natin inaalis ang posibilidad na ito ay maging bagyo sa susunod na mga araw,” Pagasa weather specialist Obet Badrina said.
The trough of the LPA will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera Administrative Region. Flooding or landslides are expected in these areas due to moderate with at times heavy rains.

Habagat will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Visayas, Mindanao, Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, Zambales, Bataan, and Quezon.
The southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

“Itong habagat ay inaasahan nating magdadala ng maulap na kalangitan na may malaking tsansa ng pag-ulan partikular na sa bahagi ng Visayas, Mindanao, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, at sa may bahagi ng Bataan at Zambales,” he added.
The weather agency warned the residents in the affected areas for possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over western section of Luzon and the remaining parts of the country will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA.
