Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake in Davao Occidental, Today, August 11, 2023

EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.1 magnitude quake in Davao Occidental today, August 11, 2023.

Following the 4.8 magnitude earthquake that jolted Davao Occidental yesterday, another significant quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in the province. The quake hit Sarangani. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.1.

The earthquake today that struck Davao Occidental, Friday, August 11, 2023, at 06:15 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Balut Island in Sarangani.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Occidental was located at 03.27°North, 126.71°East – 277 km South 31° East of Balut Island. It had a depth of focus of 059 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was recorded at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas.
