PAGASA Says Habagat to Bring Rain Over Parts of the Philippines
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau has reported that the southwest monsoon will bring rain to parts of the country.
On Thursday (August 10, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update. The southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms will continue to affect the country’s weather conditions.
PAGASA specialist Benison Estareja said that the heat index in Metro Manila may reach 40°C today (August 10). He advised residents to stay hydrated and to wear heat protection when leaving the house.
“Sa Metro Manila, ngayong araw ay mainit at maalinsangang panahon ang mararanasan between 28°C to 33°C. But the heat index ay posible pa ring umabot to almost 40°C. Sa mga lalabas po ng bahay ay magdala ng pananggalang sa init gaya ng payong o sumbrero,” said Estareja.
The southwest monsoon will bring a cloudy weather condition with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, SOCCSKSARGEN, Occidental Mindoro, the northern portion of Palawan, and Lanao del Norte.
The weather agency has warned the public about possible flash floods or landslides in these areas due to moderate to heavy rains at times.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience similar weather conditions. Flash floods or landslides might occur in these areas during severe thunderstorms.
“Sa ating mga kababayan sa Visayas, pinaka apektado ng habagat ang western portion so asahan ang maulap na kalangitan na sasamahan ng kalat-kalat na pag-ulan. Mag-ingat sa flash floods sa landslides,” Estareja added.
Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over Luzon will be moderate to rough, while Visayas and Mindanao will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions.
