Class Suspensions for Thursday (August 3, 2023)

WALANG PASOK – Various local government units have announced class suspensions due to the effects of the southwest monsoon.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration reported that the enhanced southwest monsoon will bring rains over some parts of the country, especially in Luzon and Visayas.

PAGASA said Typhoon Falcon is located 715 kilometers north-northeast of Itbayat, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. It has maximum sustained winds of 155 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 190 kph.

Habagat will bring occasional rains over Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan. Cloudy weather conditions with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected over Metro Manila, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and the rest of Central Luzon.

Although Typhoon Falcon and Typhoon Egay are already outside PAR, some areas have been placed under a state of calamity due to incessant rains and continuous flooding.

Some LGUs have declared class suspensions in various areas due to the inclement weather conditions brought by the enhanced southwest monsoon. The announcement has been made to ensure the safety of students and school employees.
