Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Offers P20,000 to 73-Year-Old Grandpa to Undergo Circumcision
LAPU LAPU CITY – A 73-year-old grandpa accepted a circumcision challenge in exchange for financial aid worth P20,000.
Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan is encouraging uncircumcised elderly people to undergo circumcision in exchange for cash assistance. He offered P20,000 to an elderly grandpa from Lapu-Lapu City.
The senior citizen identified as Lolo Mado happily accepted the challenge and passed the rite of passage for manhood. The circumcision surgery was successful, and he is currently recovering at home.
“Ke tanda ko na nga naman eh magba-viral pa sa ganito,” the grandpa said.
Lolo Mado shared why he had not undergone circumcision in his youth. He recalled that he and three of his friends had planned to be circumcised together, but fear got the better of them, and they decided against it.
Circumcision equipment was primitive at the time, and the idea of undergoing the procedure with insufficient medical knowledge was understandably frightening.

As a result, they chose to disregard it completely and go on with their lives. “Dahil ang tuli dati sa panahon namin, maliit na itak lang ang gamit,” he added.
However, the City Mayor refused to give further details and information regarding the elderly man. The Lapu Lapu City Cebu Health Office is actively promoting the free circumcision services to uncircumcised individuals.
Circumcision has long been regarded as a rite of passage for young men in many civilizations worldwide. Lolo Mado’s experience, on the other hand, proves that it is never too late to appreciate this traditional milestone.
The decision to get the surgery done in his 70s shows his determination and readiness to push himself beyond his comfort zone for personal growth and well-being.
