PAGASA Says Typhoon Egay Slightly Weakened, Cloudy to Rainy Condition Expected Over Most Parts of PH

PAGASA WEATHER UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that Typhoon Egay made landfall over Fuga Island.

On Wednesday (July 26, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration reported that Typhoon Egay made landfall over Fuga Island in Aparri, Cagayan, around 3:10 am.

Egay is currently traversing the waters near Fuga Island in Aparri, Cagayan, after making another landfall over northwestern Cagayan.

The typhoon has maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 240 kph. It is moving west-southwestward at 15 kph with strong to typhoon-force winds.

The weather agency has warned of “violent, life-threatening conditions” over the Babuyan Islands and parts of northern Luzon. However, it is expected to weaken before leaving the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Thursday (July 27, 2023).

“Violent, life-threatening conditions are expected to continue over Babuyan Islands, the northwestern portion of mainland Cagayan, and the northern portions of Apayao and Ilocos Norte in the next 6 hours,” PAGASA said.
