Man Wearing Police Uniform Arrested for Pretending to be a Cop in Mandaue City

Authorities arrested a man who was wearing a uniform of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and pretending to be a police in Mandaue City.

According to the police report, the suspect is Gabriel Santino Tac-an of Cebu City’s Barangay Hipodromo. The 33-year-old guy was apprehended after he was discovered wearing a police outfit and posing as a cop.

Authorities seized one.38 caliber revolver loaded with eight live rounds, two portable radios, a piercing cap, a bullet vest, a sling bag, a cellular phone, an LTO ID, a facemask, a cigarette box, a Chokorno, and a baseball bat. Aside from that, two pieces of illegal substances worth P1,020 were found.

Tac-an was apprehended on the afternoon of July 20 in Mandaue City, Cebu. According to the report, his police uniform bore the rank of Police Lieutenant.

He will be charged with usurpation of authority and violating Article 179 of the Revised Penal Code, as well as illegal use of a uniform or insignia. He will also be charged with drug and firearm possession.

Recently, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) arrested a man pretending to be an employee of the Malacañang Palace. The suspect was apprehended in an entrapment operation at the PCG office in Manila
