PCG Personnel Arrested a Man Pretending to be a Malacañang Employee
The personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) arrested a man who is allegedly pretending to be a Malacañang Palace employee.
After being caught pretending to be a member of the President’s Office, a man was charged with usurpation of authority. According to the report, the 40-year-old suspect introduced himself as a Malacañang Palace undersecretary.
This Wednesday, May 24, the suspect was apprehended in an entrapment operation at the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) office in Manila. The suspect allegedly spoke with a PCG official about receiving military equipment, based on the article of Abante.
However, the authorities are seeking confirmation from Malacañang’s Office of the Deputy Executive Secretary for Finance and Administration. The suspect, however, is not an undersecretary, according to the government office.
According to Maj. Gen. Edgar Alan Okubo, director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), the suspect’s group’s strategy is to pose as an undersecretary in order to persuade agencies to purchase automobiles and other things from the company they pretend to represent. He stated that if the suspect and PCG were not apprehended, the gang of guys may have stolen millions of pesos from the government.
