Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake in Cagayan, July 14, 2023

EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.1 magnitude quake in Cagayan, Friday, July 14, 2023.

Following the 4.6 magnitude earthquake that hit Sulu a few months ago, another significant quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Cagayan. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.1.

The earthquake that struck Cagayan, Friday, July 14, 2023, at 06:26 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Dalupiri Island in Calayan, Cagayan.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Cagayan was located at 19.29°North, 121.15°East – 022 km North 16° West of Dalupiri Island. It had a depth of focus of 016 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was recorded at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas. No instrumental intensity was recorded as well.
