Ogie Diaz Defends Joey de Leon Over His Meaningful Jokes
Talent manager and showbiz vlogger Ogie Diaz defends veteran comedian Joey de Leon after being criticized over his meaningful jokes.
Ogie Diaz, Mama Loi, and Tita Jegs discussed netizens’ comments about TV host comic Joey De Leon’s recent posts in the latest episode of Ogie Diaz Showbiz Update. The showbiz blogger defended Joey to netizens who complained about his serious jokes becoming more common.
“Actually yaan, noon pa man, ganyan na si tito Joey sa mga ganyan niyang pahirit. ‘Yan din kasi ang nagpapalakas ng panonood ng mga tao e. ‘Ay baka may sabihin ulit si Joey kailangan live marinig ko na hindi yung mabasa ko lang dahil viral,” said Ogie.
Ogie noted that this may be a technique for Joey to get people excited about what he might say on their show or on his social media. He stated that what is important is that his frequent jokes are not a personal attack.
“Feeling ko, yun ang ano ni Joey. ‘Yung goal niya is ma-viral ule at mas ma-curious pa ‘yung mga tao na manood sa live. Ang importante, hindi personalan na atake,” Ogie emphasized in his showbiz vlog.
Joey established the Eat Bulaga title, which is now regarded as the longest-running noontime show, while the late Master Rapper Francis Magalona coined the term “Dabarkad” or “barkada” when unscrambled. However, because of licensing concerns, TVJ was unable to bring the Eat Bulaga title with them when they moved to TV5.
these insist, however, that these are the genuine Dabarkad. When the first episode aired on July 1, the TVJ three announced their show as EAT, which stands for Eto Ang Totoo.
