Man Arrested After Posing as Charity Vlogger’s Staff and Kidnapped Child with Albinism
Authorities arrested a man for allegedly posing as a charity vlogger’s staff and kidnapped a child with Albinism in Camarines Sur.
A man posing as a member of the staff of a charity vlogger kidnapped two siblings from their parents in Tigaon, Camarines Sur. According to the complaint, the incident began when someone presented himself as Jojo Olason approached the family.
Jojo then said that he was working with vlogger Virgelyncares, who had previously assisted the family, and that he had been told to bring the children, aged 9 and 6, to Naga.
“Dadalhin daw dun kay Sir Virgelyn tapos pupunta daw kay Mayor, hihingi daw ng kaunting tulong na mapabubungan ang bahay namin,” the father, Erwin, said. “Sabi ko salamat sa Diyos.”
He added, “Wala akong cellphone. Wala akong number dun kay Sir Virgelyn kaya hindi ko natawagan sila. Ang sabi ko sa kanya, ‘Huwag pababayaan yan.'”
However, Erwin was concerned that “Marie” and “Mario” would suffer the worst-case scenario. “Ang naisip ko ‘yung bata ginawan ng masama,” he said. “Sabi ko baka saan dalhin, ipagbili, o kung patayin, gahasain yung anak ko. Sabi ko pag ginawa niya ‘yan, talagang hindi ko mapapatawad ang sarili ko.”
Based on the report, Alma, the children’s mother, stated that they subsequently contacted the vlogger VirgelynCares. When the vlogger learned about the situation, he quickly resorted to social media to seek assistance.
Later, officials obtained information concerning the likely whereabouts of two youngsters in Tinambac. Police apprehended Jojo inside the house where he was living with the children.
Authorities also seized a suitcase containing sensitive images of kids, which Jojo said were his relatives. No one could confirm the children’s identity or whether they were Jojo’s nieces or nephews.
According to Jojo, they became stranded and he was unable to return the children to their families. “Nagahol po kasi kami sa oras,” he said. “Tatlong araw po kami doon sa Tinambac. Wala po silang dalang damit po na bibihisan. Linalabhan ko po ang mga damit nila. Umuulan po sa Tinambac kaya di po kami nakakauwi. Di kami nakatuloy sa pupuntahan sana namin. Doon sa vlogger.”
He then admitted to seeing the children in Virgelyn’s vlog. “Naririnig-rinig ko na po na ginagamit ng magulang, pinapalimos ‘yung dalawang anak. Nagtanong po ako kung saan ‘yung bahay ng anak araw kasi bibisitahin ko po at tutulungan ko. Binigyan ko po ng 13 kilos na bigas tapos 500 po,” he claimed.
