Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Batangas, June 15, 2023
EARTHQUAKE TODAY – The Phivolcs recorded a 6.3 magnitude quake in Calatagan, Batangas today, Thursday, June 15, 2023.
Following the 4.6 magnitude earthquake that hit Sulu a few weeks ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Batangas. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 6.3.
The earthquake that struck Batangas, today, Thursday, June 15, 2023, was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Calatagan.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Batangas was located at 13.77°North, 120.51°East – 015 km South 64° West of Calatagan. It had a depth of focus of 119 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. The following intensities were recorded in these areas:

- Caloocan City; San Juan City; Muntinlupa City; San Fernando City, La Union
- Alaminos City, and Bolinao, Pangasinan

- Las Piñas City; Makati City; Marikina City; Parañaque City; Pasig City; Obando, Bulacan
- Laurel, Batangas; Bacoor City, and Imus City, Cavite
- San Pablo City, and City of San Pedro, Laguna
- San Mateo, Rizal
- Intensity IV
- Manila City; Mandaluyong City; Quezon City; Valenzuela City; Malolos City, Bulacan
- Batangas City, Ibaan, Lemery, Nasugbu, and Talisay, Batangas
- Dasmariñas City, and Tagaytay, Cavite
- Tanay, Rizal
