Repeat Offender Returns to Prison: From Freedom to Drug Charges
REPEAT OFFENDER – A man finds himself back behind bars for the third time after authorities apprehended him in a recent buy-bust operation in Limay, Bataan.
The suspect, identified as Astro Biliran, a 57-year-old resident of the area, is no stranger to the confines of a jail cell.
The police had received information regarding his involvement in the illegal drug trade, which led to the organized buy-bust operation, with an undercover officer acting as the poseur buyer using marked money.
The suspect was swiftly arrested while engaging in an illicit transaction, and authorities confiscated several sachets of suspected illegal drugs. Biliran now faces charges for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Acting on the received information, law enforcement agencies coordinated efforts to apprehend Astro Biliran in the targeted buy-bust operation. Undercover police, armed with marked money, approached the suspect to initiate the transaction.
Without hesitation, Biliran fell into the trap, unaware that he was dealing with a law enforcement officer. The authorities swiftly moved in to apprehend him, ensuring that he had no opportunity to resist or escape.
Upon searching the suspect, law enforcement officers discovered several sachets containing an illegal substance believed to be a highly addictive illegal drug.
The evidence collected during the operation will be instrumental in pursuing legal action against the suspect, who now faces the consequences of his alleged involvement in the drug trade.
Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 imposes severe penalties for the production, sale, distribution, and possession of illegal drugs in the Philippines.
