This is why Julia Barretto does not agree to build a friendship with an ex-lover.
JULIA BARRETTO – Actress-entrepreneur Julia Barretto reveals stand about building a close friendship with an “ex” and this is what she said.
One of the most famous actresses in the Philippines is Julia Barretto. There was a phase in her career when she became a subject of heavy criticism due to her alleged involvement in a highly-publicized split but she came out of it just stronger.
Her personal life is a bit of an open book to the public. She grew up in front of the camera as she is the daughter of celebrities Marjorie Barretto and Dennis Padilla. She is also currently in a relationship with actor Gerald Anderson.
And in a recent interview with Magandang Buhay, she was asked about being friends with an “ex”. In her personal stand, she is not in favor of being friends with an ex-lover.
In the interview, she expressed her belief about ending a relationship. Accordingly, once a relationship ends, the friendship also ends.
However, two people can still be civil toward each other. Ex-lovers can remain civil and respectful but “when that part of your life is over, it means that whole relationship including the friendship”.
It’s also showing respect for the current relationship. She said, “And especially if you are happy at the moment ‘di ba it’s really as respect to your current partner as well because hindi naman yata proper.”
The actress reiterated that two people can be civil but must not be really close as there’s a thin line between what happened in the past and in the present. They might even get back together due to this closeness.
“Yes of course, ang tanong naman kasi close friends, parang papuntang best friends na yon, eh baka maging kayo ulit,” she explained.
