Teves Debunks Claims His P8M Offer to Degamo Suspects to Recant Testimony
Negros Oriental rep Arolfo “Arnie” Teves Jr denied the P8M offer to Degamo slay suspects to allegedly recant their testimony.
Teves Jr said in a Facebook video that the reported P8 million bribe to each suspect in the killing of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo was a “fabrication” to get them to drop their prior charges against the legislator. Teves stated that he did not know where Justice Sec. The accusation is made against Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla.
“Hindi ko alam saan nakuha ‘yung 8 million na number eh. Bakit hindi 7, hindi 9, hindi 10 million? Baka pumasok sa isip niya na gamitin ‘yung number 8 dahil swerte? Doon mo makikita na mga kathang isip,” said Teves.
Remulla had stated that the shooters were promised P8 million as the cause for their reversal, which allegedly began when Teves’ co-mastermind, Marvin Miranda, was apprehended in March. Remulla named former Justice Undersecretary Reynante Orceo as the person who allegedly spoke with the accused.
“Noong finally kinuha niya ang abugado na nagpunta roon, nagsimula na yung mga offer na bigyan ng pera itong mga ibang akusado o i-offer sila ng malalaking amount ng pera, amounting to, according to the intel report, 8 million pesos each,” said Remulla.
Teves insisted, the Justice secretary is lying. “Kung ano-anong lumalabas sa utak mo, hindi naman totoo. At nasabi mo pa sa publiko. Anong istura mo ngayon? ‘Di sinungaling, ‘di ba? So, wala: king of sablay, fake news, sinungaling.”
