Tito Sotto Reveals TAPE Was “Nakakapikon” When TVJ Left

These are the revelations of Tito Sotto when TVJ made their big announcement.

TITO SOTTO – “Eat Bulaga” main hosts Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon leave and Sotto has these revelations when they left.

TVJ trio or “Eat Bulaga” main hosts Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon left the TV production company Television and Production Exponent (Tape) Inc. based on a previous article. Following their announcement, the other hosts of the longest-running noontime show followed by also sending their resignations.

It felt like the end of an era to many people.

“We are honored to be able to deliver happiness from Batanes to Jolo and become a part of your life. Thank you all so much. Until then. Wherever destiny takes us, tuloy ang isang libo’t isang tuwa,” says the younger Sotto on May 31.

This has saddened a lot of people including famous celebrities. This show ran for 44 years and the agreement is supposed to end in 2024 but due to the issues, things turned out differently.

And recently, in an interview, the former senate president revealed something when TVJ left.

Accordingly, on May 31, they were prohibited to air live and the show was commanded to play a replay instead of doing a live. This became among the factors that really pushed them to officially quit and set themselves away from the “pang-aapi” of the production company.

“We decided na, finally. Naging instant reaction. We finally decided na. Sapagkat ganun ang trato nila, parang sila ang may-ari sa amin. Nakakapikon na,” Sotto revealed.

The big announcement ignited many questions about what will happen next. To recall, EB ran for 44 years – nine years in RPN9, six years in ABS-CBN, and 28 years in GMA.

The happenings were unexpected last May 31. According to Sotto, everyone was present that day to talk about the major changes the new management would like to do in the program. These changes included a decrease in the salary of hosts and production staff and a reduction in the number of production and crew.

But later on, they discovered the reason behind these.

“Kasi ang nalaman namin, yun pala, ang ginagawa pala ng TAPE, nag-a-advance ang isang stockholder, at binibigay ng TAPE ang advance ng stockholder na iyon na milyon, milyones, ha. Eto, siguro, suspetsa namin, ang stockholder na iyon — si Romy,” he went on.

And when the show was canceled last May 31, they officially made the decision to cut ties. They didn’t have the chance to do a live on television but they did have on social media through the official Facebook account of Eat Bulaga! and Maine Mendoza’s Facebook page which has 18 million followers.

“So nag-Facebook live ang Eat Bulaga! Nag-Facebook Live si Maine. So, yun ang nangyari. Kaya kalat-kalat. Talo yung TV [Eat Bulaga! replay]. Dapat nun di na sila nag-playback,” he said based on PEP’s report.
