PAGASA Says Typhoon Betty to Bring Rains Over Parts of PH
The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that Typhoon Betty has weakened further while moving slowly over the sea east of Batanes.
On Wednesday (May 31, 2023), Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Typhoon Betty will affect the country’s weather condition.
PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina reported that Betty was last spotted 320 kilometers east of Itbayat, Batanes. It has maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 150 kph.
“Posible din po na ngayong araw o bukas ay tuluyan na pong mawawala itong mga Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals, partikular na kung saan nakataas ang Signal No. 1,” Badrina said.
Betty may turn north northeastward or north northwestward on Thiursday afternoon or evening. The weather disturbance is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Thursday evening or Friday early morning.

- Northern and eastern portions of Isabela (Santo Tomas, Santa Maria, Quezon, San Mariano, Dinapigue, Delfin Albano, San Pablo, Ilagan City, Benito Soliven, Tumauini, Cabagan, Palanan, Quirino, Divilacan, Gamu, Maconacon, Naguilian, Mallig)
- Eastern portion of Ilocos Norte (Piddig, Bangui, Vintar, Marcos, Pagudpud, Banna, Adams, Carasi, Dingras, Solsona, Dumalneg, Nueva Era)
- Apayao
- the northern portion of Kalinga (City of Tabuk, Balbalan, Pinukpuk, Rizal)
- the northeastern portion of Abra (Tineg, Lacub, Malibcong)
TCWS No. 2
- Batanes
A marine gale warning remains in effect over seaboards of Northern Luzon, eastern seaboards of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Visayas due to the enhanced Southwest Monsoon and Typhoon Betty.
