PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Monday (May 29, 2023)
The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that Typhoon Betty has slightly weakened, signal no. 1 has been raised in 15 areas.
On Monday (May 29, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Typhoon Betty will still affect the country’s weather condition.
PAGASA reported that Typhoon Betty slightly weakened. Betty was last spotted at 570 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. It was moving northwestward at 10 kph.
The weather disturbance has maximum sustained winds of 155 kilometers per hours and gustiness of up to 190 kph.
The typhoon will enhance the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat. It is expected to turn north northeastward and gradually accelerate towards the waters east of Taiwan before leaving the Philippine area of responsibility on Friday evening (June 2, 2023).
“On the track forecast, Betty will move generally northwestward slowly tonight through tomorrow and may become slow-moving or almost stationary by Tuesday or Wednesday while over the waters east of Batanes,” PAGASA says.
The weather agency has raised Signal No. 1 in the following areas:
- Batanes
- Cagayan including Babuyan Islands
- Isabela
- Quirino
- Northeastern portion of Nueva Vizcaya
- Apayao
- Abra
- Kalinga
- Mountain Province
- Ifugao
- Ilocos Norte
- Northern and central portions of Aurora
- Northern portion of Catanduanes
- Northeastern portion of Camarines Sur
- Northern portion of Camarines Norte
