PAGASA: Typhoon Betty to Bring Rains Over Parts of PH

PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Tuesday (May 30, 2023)

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that Typhoon Betty will bring cloudy and rainy conditions over some parts of the country.

On Tuesday (May 30, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Typhoon Betty will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that Typhoon Betty was last spotted at 350 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes. It has maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 185 kph.

Betty and the southwest monsoon or known as ‘habagat’ will bring cloudy skies and rain in large part of Northern Luzon, even in the eastern or western part of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, according to Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda.

“Ito ay kumikilos pahilaga hilaga kanluran sa bilis na 10 kph at ngayong araw inaasahan na ito at maging ang southwest monsoon ay magdudulot ng maulap na kalangitan at mga pagulan dito sa malaking bahagi ng Northern Luzon maging sa silangan o kanlurang bahagi ng Southern Luzon, Visayas, at Mindanao,” Castañeda said.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 has been raised in three areas while six others were under TCWS no. 2.

•             Eastern portion of Ilocos Norte

•             Apayao

•             Northern portion of Kalinga

•             Northeastern portion of Abra

The typhoon will bring moderate to heavy to intense with at times torrential rains over Batanes and Cagayan. Moderate to heavy with at times intense rains over Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Isabela, and Aurora.

MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, rest of Ilocos Region, and rest of Cagayan Valley will experience similar weather condition due to habagat.

The southwest monsoon will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
