Several LGUs Declare Class Suspensions for Monday (May 29, 2023)
WALANG PASOK – Several local government units declared class suspensions over some parts of the country due to Typhoon Betty.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 over 15 areas. As a result, numerous cities, municipalities, and provinces have declared class suspensions for Monday, May 29, 2023.
Typhoon Betty, internationally known as Mawar, was last spotted approximately 715 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. Despite the storm weakening, it continues to pose potential risks to various parts of the country.
The effects of the tropical cyclone include heavy rainfall, strong winds, and potential hazards associated with such weather conditions.
With the safety of students and residents in mind, several LGUs have announced the cancellation of classes for Monday, May 29, 2023. These measures aim to mitigate potential risks and ensure the well-being of the affected communities.

- Apayao: All levels, public and private
- Pandan, Patnongon, Caluya, Libertad, and San Jose de Buenavista in Antique: All levels, public and private
- Abra: Preschool to senior high school, public and private
- Batanes: All levels, public and private
- Dinalungan, Aurora: All levels, public and private
- Cagayan: All levels, public and private
- Ilocos Sur: All levels, public and private; no work in government offices as well
- Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte: Preschool to senior high school, public and private
- Luna, La Union: All levels, public and private
- Polillo, Quezon: Preschool to senior high school, public and private
- Alfonso Lista, Ifugao: Preschool to senior high school, public and private
Despite the weakening of Typhoon Betty, the storm system is expected to continue bringing rains to various parts of the country throughout the week. As a result, it is advisable for residents in affected areas to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
