Teacher Georcelle speaks about a recent “issue” with Sarah Geronimo
Choreographer Teacher Georcelle Dapat-Sy revealed the reason why she decided to pull her dance group G-Force out of Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo’s 20th-anniversary concert.
For more than a decade, G-Force was the backup dancer of Sarah in her concerts and TV performances. Georcelle and her dance group have been doing the choreography of Sarah’s fast-beat songs.
However, during Sarah’s performance at FIBA World Cup Draw 2023, it was noticed that she showcased a different dance group and the choreography for her song Tala was also changed.
With this, rumors surfaced that the singer-actress has a conflict with Teacher Georcelle. The choreographer was accused of not allowing Sarah to use the original Tala choreography. It was also alleged that the G-Force head is demanding that Viva will pay her every time her Tala choreography will be used.
In a recent episode of Ogie Diaz’s Showbiz Update vlog, he shared the reaction that Georcelle had to this issue.
The choreographer stressed that Sarah Geronimo wanted a change and to try new things in her career and personal life. She added that the Popstar Royalty wanted artistic freedom, however, the choreographer said that she also has her artistic freedom.
Due to this creative difference, Teacher Georcell said that she decided to pull G-Force out of the concert.
“I had to pull out 2 months ago in March,” the choreographer said and this decision was respected by her team. This decision also sprouted from Georcelle’s show of support for Sarah to experience creative freedom and “to be the ultimate decision maker in producing and directing her 20th [anniversary] concert.”
Teacher Georcelle also stressed that there is no truth in rumors that she asked P 150,000 fee from Viva every time G-Force’s choreography will be used.
To recall, Sarah Geronimo showed loved for G-Force before ending her concert.
