Noli de Castro Remembers ABS-CBN Shutdown Third Anniversary

NOLI DE CASTRO – Veteran broadcaster and former vice-president of the Philippines Noli de Castro commemorated ABS-CBN shutdown’s third anniversary.

The ABS-CBN franchise expired on May 4, 2020. The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) did not grant ABS-CBN provisional authority to operate while its franchise renewal was pending in Congress at the time.

As a result, all broadcast operations of the network had to be stopped in accordance with the order of the NTC. At 7:52 p.m., May 5, 2020, the TV and radio broadcast operations of ABS-CBN stopped. All that can be seen on television is a black screen.

Noli de Castro said even though their station lost its franchise, they still continue to do the usual work to deliver the news to the public. Fortunately, there are new technologies now.

In the caption of the post, he wrote: “Tatlong taon na. Tinutupad po namin na hindi kami mananatiling nakatikom ang mga bibig.. itutuloy pa rin po namin kung ano ang aming ginagawa, may mga paraan.. salamat na lamang po sa teknolohiya, dahil nandito pa rin kami. #Kapamilya #kabayan #nolidecastro #abscbn #shutdown #franchise”
