The character of John Estrada in ‘Batang Quiapo’ caught the viewers’ attention
Actor John Estrada has this meaningful line in the Kapamilya primetime series Batang Quiapo about being tempted.
John is giving life to the character of Rigor in the series featuring the tandem of Coco Martin and Lovi Poe. It is the TV version of Fernando Poe, Jr.’s movie in 1986.
In a recent episode of the TV series, the scene of John in which he delivered a meaningful line went viral, based on the article in Bandera. It is because people think that it was a sort of “true to life” moment.
It was said that some people commented that it appeared that Batang Quiapo is updated with the latest happenings in John Estrada’s life behind the camera. This referred to the controversy that the actor’s relationship with his wife Priscilla Meirelles went through.
In a video posted on ABS-CBN’s iWantTFC Facebook Page, it showed that particular scene that John did. His character was narrating the “pagtataksil” that he did. He reasoned out that he was just tempted.
Rigor was tempted to have intimacy with his fellow police officer played by Mercedes Cabral. Marites, played by Cherry Pie Picache, is Rigor’s legal wife.
“Nagsisisi ako sa maling nagawa ko. Natukso lang ako. Napilit. Ayokong saktan ang asawa ko. Hindi niya dapat malaman ang nangyari. At ipinapangako ko, hindi na ‘yun mauulit,” John’s character said.
This garnered funny reactions from netizens. “The design is very John Estrada,” a netizen commented while the other one wrote, “Pati ba naman sa teleserye, John?”
Following that controversy about their relationship status, Priscilla Meirelles shared in an interview that her husband chose to fix their relationship.
