Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Isabela, May 3, 2023

EARTHQUAKE TODAY – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.1 magnitude quake in Maconacon, Isabela today, Wednesday, May 3, 2023.

Following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted a part of Davao Occidental a few weeks ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Isabela. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.1.

The earthquake that struck Isabela, today, Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at 03:25 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Maconacon.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Isabela was located at 17.61°North, 122.35°East – 027 km North 26° East of Maconacon. It had a depth of focus of 029 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the quake-recording bureau, this quake is an aftershock of the magnitude 5.3 earthquake that jolted Maconacon, Isabela last April 23, 2023. Instrumental Intensity I was recorded in Penablanca, Cagayan.
