Man Beaten and Suffocated by Cops with Plastic to Contact His Illegal Drugs Supplier
A man was allegedly suffocated by cops in order to get him to contact his neighbor, who is claimed to be a high-quality marijuana supplier.
Carl Joshua Marbella spoke before the House Committee on Public Order and Safety on what occurred to him in the group of Police Maj. Juan Carlo Porciuncula. According to Marbella, he was riding a motorcycle in November 2022 in UPEHCO Subdivision, Barangay San Luis, Antipolo City when they were stopped by a civilian.
“Meron pong nakatayong nakasibilyan tapos pinara po kami ang sabi po checkpoint daw po. Hinawakan po ako sa kamay tapos sabi makipagtulungan na lang daw po ako. Tapos sinakay na po ako sa sasakyan,” he said.
He added, “Umiiyak na po kasi ako nung kinuha ako. Sabi ko po, ‘Sir, parang awa n’yo na po graduating po ako’. Tapos ito po, si Major Porciuncula, sinampal niya po ako. Tapos ‘yon po umandar na po kami, dinala po nila ako sa Taktak (Road). Tapos habang umaandar po ano may sinasabi sa akin tapos sinusupot ‘yong ulo ko po.”
In response to Antipolo City Rep. Romeo Acop’s queries, Marbella stated that the police returned him to their location at 5:08 p.m. and told Joenel that he would get the speaker since the police told him. Christian Joenel Babagay is referred to by Marbella.
“nag-chat ako kay Joenel na kukunin ko po ‘yong speaker kasi po ang sabi po nila (police) sa akin, gumawa raw po ako ng paraan para mapalabas ko po si Jonel. Kasi po natatakot na po ako, your Honor, kasi sinasaktan na po nila ako, kaya ginawa ko po ‘yong paraan na ‘yon,” he shared.
Acop compared Marbella’s narrative to that of Joenel’s mother, Irenee Babagay. Marbella was allegedly released shortly after. No charges were also filed against him, based on the report.
CJ was utilized to bring out Joenel for the committee’s chairperson, Santa Rosa City Rep. Dan Fernandez. Marbella’s story was refuted by Porciuncula. According to police, Joenel was apprehended during a buy-bust operation.
“Hindi po namin kilala yung sinasabi nilang CJ (Marbella) na isa pa, ang CJ po naman ay si Christian Joenel Babagay,” said Porciuncula to Fernandez’s question.
“Ang mismong nakatransaksyon ng informant namin your honor ay si Joenel po,” he added.
