Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Zamboanga del Norte, April 24, 2023
EARTHQUAKE TODAY – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.0 magnitude quake in Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte today, Monday, April 24, 2023.
Following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted a part of Davao Occidental a few weeks ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Zamboanga del Norte. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.0.
The earthquake that struck Zamboanga del Norte, today, Monday, April 24, 2023, at 08:28 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Sindangan.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Zamboanga del Norte was located at 08.15°North, 122.97°East – 010 km South 18° West of Sindangan in the municipality of Sarangani. It had a depth of focus of 021 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. No intensity was recorded by the quake-monitoring agency as per its release. The following instrumental intensities were recorded:
- Intensity I
- Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte
- Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte
- Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur
- Intensity III
- Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte
