Taxi Driver Lodges Complaint vs Passenger Who Posed as Cop & Demands P100

Taxi Driver Files Complaint vs Passenger Who Pretended as Cop & Demands P100

A man who pretended to be a police officer was complained by a taxi driver after allegedly demanding P100.

A taxi driver in Makati City lodged a complaint against a male passenger who allegedly posed as a police officer and demanded P100. According to the complaint, the passenger, identified as Leonard Atienza, not only refused to pay the taxi fare but also claimed to be a police officer and asked for an extra P100.

Atienza was reported to have been wearing a police uniform, complete with a police cap and handcuffs, despite not being a genuine police officer.

“Ang suspek na ito ay sumakay sa isang taxi. Nung malapit na sila dito sa may Ayala Center ay bumaba itong suspek natin pero bago ito bumaba tinanong niya itong taxi driver kung puwedeng makahingi sa kaniya ng P100,” Makati City Police chief Police Colonel Edward Cutiyog.

This incident was not the first time that Atienza has been accused of this modus operandi. The complainant stated that Atienza had previously pulled off the same scheme in Cavite two years ago, indicating a pattern of behavior.

“Ganun din ‘yung kaso niya but may pagka-robbery iyon. And then nakapag-bail po siya,” Cutiyog added.

As a result, Atienza is expected to face charges for usurpation of authority and illegal use of a uniform. However, when approached for a statement, Atienza refused to provide any information.
