Immigration Officer Arrested by NBI After Being Involved in Human Trafficking

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) personnel arrested an immigration officer after being involved in a human trafficking activity.

The NBI arrested four persons, including an immigration officer, at Pampanga’s Clark International Airport. According to the NBI, this is due to the speedy recruiting and processing of travel documents for the six victims who would work as call center agents in Cambodia.

The suspect was identified by the NBI as Immigration Officer I Alma Grace Ambrocio David of the Bureau of Immigration. Three more suspects have been identified as John Paul Angelico Tan Sanchez, a former Bureau of Immigration employee; Rachel Almendra Luna a.k.a. Kate; and Princess Batac Guerrero a.k.a. hannie.

According to the report, the victims easily passed the primary inspection but were halted at the boarding gate by Travel Control and Enforcement Unit (TCEU) officers conducting the secondary inspection. The victims were determined to be call center agents at Hong Fa International Company, which is situated in Cambodia.

It was also uncovered that the aforementioned company is participating in a bitcoin scam in which Filipinos are employed. As a result, the NBI Pampanga District Office charged the four with human trafficking, large-scale illegal recruitment, and violating the graft and corrupt practices act.
