Online Community Praise Teacher in Caloocan City for Providing Free Halo-Halo to Students
A generous teacher in Caloocan City goes viral and earns praises online for providing free halo-halo to his advisory class.
In Caloocan City, a kind-hearted teacher is providing a sweet treat to his students during this hot summer season. Jesus Jose M. Beltran, also known as “Sir Jess,” has been offering free halo-halo to his advisory class at Tala High School in North Caloocan.
This idea was inspired by his colleague and friend, Ma’am Mary Ann, who offers unlimited servings of taho to her students. In his Facebook post last March 24, Sir Jess shared a video of himself serving the delicious treat to his students.
“I actually got the idea po from a friend na teacher din, si Maam Mary Ann Ablihan, na nagpa-unli taho sa students niya. And since mainit na talaga ang panahon, naisipan ko na ilibre ng haluhalo mga anak ko dahil saktong after lunch time ang klase ko sa kanila and homeroom naman kami noon,” Beltran said quoted by Balita Net Ph.
The teacher captioned the post with a playful joke, saying that he would rather give his students a food trip during their homeroom period than do other activities, especially during this hot weather.
“So, instead na magpa activity, I opted to treat them for surviving the week. Pero before pa man itong haluhalo, tinitreat ko na sila paminsan-minsan like biscuits, breads and burgers kapag may budget, dahil sa totoo lang po, madalas na hindi na nakakapag-lunch ang ilan sa students ko. Mahahabag ka na lang talaga na nakakaya nila tiisin ang gutom para lang makapag- aral,” he added.
This heartwarming gesture shows Sir Jess’s genuine care for his students. He wants to make sure that they are comfortable and refreshed, especially during these challenging times brought about by the ongoing pandemic. His actions serve as an inspiration to other educators to go the extra mile and find creative ways to engage with and support their students.
