Here’s Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez Reaction To The Photo Of Employees Watching TV At Work
BACOLOD – Here’s the reaction of Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez to the photo of employees watching TV at work.
On March 22, Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez of Bacolod City gave the City Administrator’s Office the order to remove every television from every department at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC).
This came after a concerned citizen gave Benitez a photo of city hall employees watching television at around three o’clock.
Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, on his FB page, said, âI would like to remind all the government employees of your pledge to the people and the city.â
The photograph was taken from the City Treasurer’s Office, according to City Administrator Pacifico Maghari III, and the five employees involved have already been sent a notice to explain.
âIt was an office hour, and our mayor doesn’t want to disrupt the service at the BCGC. All offices are now being advised to remove the TV sets to ensure that the public is served to the best of our ability,â he said.

Pacifico Maghari III continued by saying that they would wait for the employees’ responses. He emphasized that government workers should perform their responsibilities in order to serve the public.
Along with the TVs, he advised the staff to get rid of anything else that would be a distraction from their work, like computer games, among other things. He continued by saying that the City Legal Office was also charged with examining and auditing every office to keep track of the workers’ output.
