LA TENORIO – Barangay Ginebra star LA Tenorio has been diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer and the Barangay Ginebra staff did this to express their support.

In a previous article, support and prayers poured in for Barangay Ginebra star LA Tenorio after he announced being diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. This was the real reason behind his sudden absence.

The tests he needed to do in the past weeks ultimately led to his instant absences from games and practices.

He was suffering from a minor injury and that was the reason he used initially to cover up the truth behind his absences.

LA Tenorio

The 38-year-old Tenorio holds the PBA record for consecutive games played at 744 and his impressive record started when he made his PBA debut on October 6, 2006.

Tenorio clarified that he has no plans of retiring despite his health status. He vowed to come back to court.

And recently, the hashtag #LAbanTENORIO is trending online. The staff of Barangay Ginebra wore shirts with this hashtag written on them. This is their way to show Tenorio their support.

On the same day, he is present as part of the coaching staff in the first game of the 2023 PBA Governor’s Cup semifinals. And for Barangay Ginebra coach Tim Cone, it is selfless for him to make himself present despite what he is currently going through.

“It’s a great honor that he is here with us and doing things that he wants to do while doing things that he needs to do. I feel honored that he is spending time with us. He is so valuable. He has been our leader since I’ve been here and even when I was with Alaska 14, 15 years ago, he was our leader back then. He is just a natural born leader,” said Cone based on a report from Spin PH.

And amid his health struggles, he asked for privacy after making the announcement. Even his coach refused to speak too much about him as he has asked for it.
